Famous women in the 1940s / war time era ?

Halloween is vast approaching, I know it isn’t scary or anything, but i love 1940’s fashion and want to dress in that style for Halloween. Clip on hat, dress, gloves, eyeliner line as stockings etc. (Think the notebook movie) Thing is, when people ask “who are you” i don’t just want to say “a woman from the 40’s” I’ve gooled it but can’t seem to come across a suitable famous women or actresses from the era. Do you know of any? Can be American or English
