Fashion Foolishness
Fashion Foolishness

Who/what brought bell-bottoms and flares back into style?
I remember when I was growing up (in the late 80′s/early 90′s) with the horrible fashion that ran rampant (tight-rolled jeans, big hair, acid wash) that I NEVER thought bells would be fashionable. My mum always told me that I was a fool for this and would often bash me in the head with a clothes iron for my foolishness, but I hung steadfast until they reappeared on the fashion scene sometime later. Of course, I love them and can’t imagine wearing anything else. Was there a specific designer that brought this particular look back?
fashion trends are due to cycles, just like how flares are going out of style now. we started wearing flares a few years ago, they got to be super-flared, then started coming back to a skinnier flare. Now we are moving towards stove-pipe and skinny leg jeans. When a trend reaches its saturation point, it starts moving back towards the opposite, like a pendulum. This is true for all fashion trends (think of how the mini skirts were in in the 60s and in the 70s lengths were longer)
