Why do alot of highschool basketball players wear two pairs of socks where one different colored pair is lower?

They’re are usually nike socks. It looks like they are wearing one sock with the top part white and the restof the sock black or something else. Is it for athletic or fashion purposes. I am just curious to see if they do this in other sports like football, soccer, or tennis?

it is pretty much just basketball. Most people just do it for fashion. Some may do it for a slight bit more ankle support, but it doesn’t help that much. I find it especially odd when someone wears ONE sock really high for “ankle support”…i mean if they really wanted ankle support wouldn’t they have both socks up high?
