Can you play Madden 09 on the wii using a regular controller?

Can you use the wii remote as a classic controller like you used to play before the wii came out? I know you can use gamecube controllers with the wii. I just want to know if you can play the game in a classic fashion instead of actually using the remote and pretending to throw. I am a lazy bones and want to use my controller buttons to move and throw etc. Can anybody help?

Do you mean playing with the Wiimote on its side? Or do you mean using the Classic Controller?

The only controllers you can use to play Madden 09 is the Wiimote with the Nunchuk attached. You cannot use any other controllers. You cannot use the Wiimote turned on its side.
