I want to become a fashion designer but I need to figure out how to get noticed. How do I get noticed?
Ok I want to become a fashion designer but im not in college. My friends Monica,Alexia, and my cousin Azure wanna start a clothing line called Swag Couture but we want to start it now. What should I do to get in contact to somebody so that we can get noticed and so they can out us out there????
heres what i would do..
- get a good paying job and start planning for your clothing line.
- once you have some money, start buying fabrics/etc and try to make some designs.
- after you get good at designing your own stuff [all while you're still working at the good paying job - you'll need the money later] you get serious about designing it. dont just make something to test it out, start making outfits,etc. then present them to your friends and family to see other peoples opinions.
- then, once you have some designs and money, create a website. billions of people use the internet so it makes sense that you’ll get noticed that way. put pics of your designs on the site, etc. DONT sell your clothes online YET. just keep them up there to show people.
- after people have noticed your website, and you have a lot of people complimenting your designs/wanting to buy/etc try having a fashion show. haha it sounds crazy but it’s a good idea. you could book like a ballroom or w/e where you live, and get some friends [this way you wont need to pay them - and by the way you're still at the hard working job; trust me the hard work will pay off soon. you DO need money to make a site and start a fashion show dont you?] to model your designs. post this on your website so all of those people will come. post the fashion show info on other things too. put it in the local newspaper, make signs and post them at the most popular places in town, etc. tons of people will come and see your designs.
- finally you can start selling your designs. after the show, sell your clothes on your site for reasonable prices. NOBODY is going to buy something for $100-$200 dollars from a store that is not yet known all over. plus.. if you have reasonable prices, more people will buy. and more people buying = more money. if you have insane prices, of course you’ll get money because your prices are ridiculous. but do you think people will continue buying from you? no.
- once you get a lot of money from selling your clothes, get it out that you’re going to start hiring people. models to show off your clothes, people to design, etc..
- then when you have all that, you’re ready to open a store.
- now you use all that money you got from your job + the money you got from selling your clothes. you have to pay your workers, so dont spend your money thinking you wont need it, because you’ll definitely need it. [once you get the store set up, you can stop working for the good paying job.]
- then when you have the store set up.. you’re done. you have a store, a site, buyers, models, designers.. but dont think you should stop trying to get noticed. remember; theres always room to get better [or in your case, more noticed haha]
it might sound crazy, but like i said.. thats how i would do it. it sounds good to me.
