How important is fashion in India?

I love Bollywood movies, as I’ve seen hundreds. I recently watched the movie Fashion, which stars Priyanka Chopra. I was wondering if fashion is really as important as the movie shows. I’ve never been to India so, I don’t know and I’ve never viewed a Bollywood movie like that (Fashion is a very unique movie). So, is fashion really that important? Are there a lot of big fashion models there? Do a lot of small town girls actually dream of becoming models in the big city of Mumbai? Just curious.

Yes the story is very common actually.. Everybody dreams of becoming a model in India.. From small towns to the big cities..

Fashion is pretty big according to me at least (Im studying to be a designer)
In India we have our own Fashion Weeks.. Lakme Fashion week, Wills Lifestyle fashion week, Chivas Fashion week, Mumbai fashion week, Delhi fashion week, Chennai fashion week and many many more..

Also there are many great Indian designers. Only a handful of them are world famous..
And an endless amount of models too.. Male and female..
