How does the new, dramatic changes in women’s fashion in the 1920′s contribute to the novel, The Great Gatsby?

My guess would be that because the late 19teens and early 1920s saw the end of the oppressive and restrictive corset for women, women became more empowered, less dominated by male expectations of appearance and behavior. Daisy is not afraid to defy her husband, or stay faithful to a man that wasn’t faithful to her because she feels the freedom that being uncorseted provides in other ways than just physical comfort.
